Canada To The Rescue?

Well, well...once again I think I might have just hit the nail on the head. I just got finished reading a rather interesting article in which a leading member of Iraq's National Assembly is now asking for Canadian peacekeepers to come in to help get Iraqis back on their feet and to start anew.

Gee...didn't I say that in my first blog entry? Bush screwed up and screwed up BIG (never half-assed eh Dubya?) when he gave Canada the join us or bite us ultimatum. That moron should have had one of his lackeys doing some research into just what Canada is good at and then approached us with that in mind. But NOOOOOoooooo Bush had to be the consummate jerk and now it's Iraq itself asking for our help.

So will Canada go? A spokeswoman for the minister of Defense has said that although we are sending $300 million for the reconstruction of Iraq there are no plans to send troops.

Now, I can't really say that I blame Canada for not sending troops now. Remember...I said Bush should have asked us in the beginning. Not only out of a show of respect but also so Canada could have a say in exactly what condition the U.S. left Iraq in for our peacekeepers. I mean really..can you blame Canada for not wanting to send our people into that kind of unrest? Peacekeeping is a whole different ball of wax from going in and kicking ass. As far as I'm concerned the U.S. overstayed its welcome. You could see it happening right before your eyes!

In the first few days Iraqis citizens were elated and were tearing down statues of Saddam Hussein with great fervor. But after a raised U.S. flag or two (what the hell were they thinking???) and a presence that turned into something resembling a police state occupation, the Iraqis people began to turn on the U.S.

Would you want to go in and try and clean that mess up? Nope...me neither! The U.S. troops should have gone in, got Saddam, secured the areas they needed and then moved on- stepping aside for peacekeeping troops to then move in to secured areas and begin the rebuilding.

You can't blame this on the U.S. troops...and I don't- not even for a second. It's Bush I blame. I mean for Pete's sake...it doesn't take a genius to figure out that you use the muscle to secure the place and then let the nice guys come in and keep things from getting ugly. You know...that whole "good cop- bad cop" kinda thing???? Doesn't Bush have cable in that big mother White House of his? It ain't rocket science to see that it might be a little hard for the Iraqis citizens to start cozying up to the same guys that were bombing the heck out of them only the week before!

Nope...things in Iraq aren't going to get pretty any time soon and it's a shame. If only Bush hadn't had such a fire up his butt to attack Iraq and divert attention away from his own ineptness then maybe there would have been a long term plan for Iraq BEFORE going in. Instead there is a desperate attempt to slap a plan together now that things are getting uglier by the day.

Nice going Bush...screwing over your own country just wasn't enough for ya was it? Can't wait for the next four years.

A Red (and white) Flag For All Canadians

Today I'm really ticked. No doubt most Canadians have heard about the bloc(-head) MP Andre Bellavance who refused to provide war veterans in Richmond, Quebec with Canadian flags for the upcoming Rememberance Day services.

Well now, thanks to Conservative leader Stephen Harper who personally delivered Canadian Flags to the Veterans, they now have the flags they so rightly deserve for the ceremony being held in THEIR honour.

But let's really examine this crap, shall we?

Firstly....who the heck does this Andre Bellavance think he freaking is? I don't give a rat's behind what you think your personal agenda is....as a Member of Parliament of Canada when a Canadian asks for a Canadian flag you bloody well give it to him. Secondly...when a war veteran asks for a Canadian flag.....you've all ready screwed up. You should have had that flag in their hands before they could get the request out of their mouths.

Just who the heck does Bellavance think it was that fought for his freedom and right to have his personal and political views? It sure wasn't Gilles Duceppe and his seperatist storm troopers. No...it was the brave men and women, the same ones asking for the right to display our flag, that laid their lives on the line so that Canada could be a free country- even for seperatist thugs such as the bloc (almost a pity when you really think about it from that stand point, isn't it?)

The bloc hates Canada...hates our flag...hates our government. They want desperately to remove all things Canadian from their lives. I say we let them. Hey...you wanna hear the bloc squeal like a school girl? Why don't we help them along on their quest for sovereignty by separating the bloc members' bank accounts from their Canadian government cheques? Funny how they don't mind hoarding that little piece of Canadiana.

And at the expense of stating the bloody obvious...what the heck is a Canada hater doing representing Canadians anyway?? Only in Canada would a group of people hell bent on destroying a country be given a prominent place in the country's government. As much as I despise Bush....do you really think good 'ol "Dubya" would stand by and let some state governor deny an American veteran his or her stars and stripes? HELL NO! I'm willing to bet Bush would be down there himself with a Texas sized lasso and pull that traitorous governor outta his cushy position so fast there'd be tumbleweeds blowing through his vacant office by noon the next day.

Which brings me to the point of....WHERE THE HELL WAS PAUL MARTIN DURING ALL OF THIS????

Oh sure...Canadians were treated to a couple of useless sound bytes on CTV news....but is that really any way to stand up for the civil rights of war veterans? Our liberal Prime Minister...who is quickly giving new meaning to the term "French kiss" (it was meant to be performed on the other end their Pauly boy) should have been first on the scene to get those Canadian flags to the veterans and to give that wet behind the ears bloc MP his walking papers.

But it seems in his quest to woo the bloc Paul Martin has forgotten his job description. Let's remind him...shall we?

Definition of Prime Minister- 1 : the chief minister of a ruler or state : the official head of a cabinet or ministry; especially : the chief executive of a parliamentary government .

Oh...gee...that would make Paul Martin sort of.....THE BOSS!

So then why did it take Gilles Duceppe to officially come out and "give permission" for the veterans in Richmond to have their flags? Who the hell is running the show around here anyway?

"I think it's quite disappointing the attitude that the Bloc took," he (Paul Martin) said.

DISAPPOINTING?????

Disappointing is when a four year old child doesn't get the barbie she asked Santa for. Denying flags to Canadians isn't disappointing...it's treasonous and illegal!

It's really a sad day in Canada when the ones who offered up their lives for our freedom are turned away when asked to display the flag they secured for us Canadians. And it's an even sadder day when our government lets it occur. As Canadians we should be enraged, but the truth of the matter is that in a few days this, like everything else the bloc does, will blow over and be forgotten. I'm not one to go around quoting Dr. Phil-isms...but one is sticking in my head right now. " You teach people how to treat you." And the more we let the bloc tread on our rights and freedoms as Canadians (French language police are now a Canadian norm, people) the more they will continue to take from us.

If people want to speak French...great. They want to retain their French heritage...fabulous. But when a group of people want to break apart our country and deny rights to those who do wish to pledge allegiance to their country we really need to ask ourselves how much more we're going to give them before we decide we've had enough. We like to poke fun at the American and their pompous, flag waving ways...but at a time like this I think we could use a good injection of patriotism. The bloc can only take as much of Canada as we let them. And I, for one, think it's time we stood up and starting telling our ELECTED OFFICIALS that enough is enough.

All right. Just to proved that I can crap on my own country's politics with the same fervor that I give to my U.S. neighbor's...here are the latest and greatest screw ups of the Great White North.

First....is there a muzzle in the house? When the hell is Carolyn Parrish gonna learn to shut her trap??? If you're not familiar with the story you can catch up quick here:

OK...caught up now? Good...let's proceed with the thrashing. First and foremost..who the hell does this woman think she is? Free speech my butt! You know...I'm so sick and tired of people thinking that free speech is synonymous with "free for all".

Yes..I think we have the right to express our views...Lord knows I do it here but would it kill Carolyn Parrish to run her thoughts through a time or two before blurting them out? Especially when it's not just you your representing but a government and a country?

Parrish says she doesn't seek approval from her boss (the Prime Minister) or her party ( The Lying Liberals) but hey Carolyn...what about the people that pay your damned salary....the Canadian taxpayer???? Shouldn't we have a say in whether you shoot your loud mouth off time and time again...each time making it more difficult for the U.S. and Canada to repair our all ready strained relations?

Men and women didn't die for our right to free speech so you, Carolyn Parrish, could be an obnoxious tit!

I figure he not only owes us those damned papers for free but he should throw in a few thousand for just being such a waste of skin.

Hey Jean...your a regular Canadian now ( or as regular as that guy can get). Instead of getting outrageous tax credits you should join the rest of us poor Canucks and start paying those sky high taxes that you imposed upon us during your reign of terror!

The Village Idiot Returns

Well..it's taken me a couple of days to recover from my shock. I'm sorry but I have to ask one burning question...WHAT THE HELL WAS AMERICA THINKING?????

Does America have a torture fetish that we don't know about? Is political S&M now your "thing"?

I had a feeling, like most, that this would be a close race...though I can't for the life of me figure out why. But it is beyond comprehension that the U.S. bought the President's crap and gave him another 4 years to run America into the ground.

I should clarify that I'm not at all surprised that Bush and his band of merry morons stooped to the gutter lows of using scare tactics to try and sway voters. Hell...I turned to my husband 3 weeks before the election and said " You watch, a few days before the election there's suddenly going to be a terrorist alert or some new Osama message." Did I call it or what?

You see, there was a study done by two psychologists who tested people to see if being reminded of the 9-11 attacks, and thus being scared silly of death, would influence their voting. Well...what the hell do ya know?? When American's were reminded of death and the 9-11 attacks they suddenly became Bush supporters.

So it came as no big surprise that "Dubbya" and his goons released that Osama tape just days before the election to scare the crap out of the American people so they'd vote out of fear instead of from a rational place.

I mean for God's sake...your own exit polls proved this. When asked if they thought Bush was good for security over half voted yes...but in the same breath when asked if Bush was good for the economy most said no. For pete's sake people...you pay this man good money...can't he do both? Bet he can't walk and chew from the pork barrel at the same time either huh?

Yeah, I know wars cost money...and this one is killing the U.S. economy...but does Bush have to pour salt in the wounds by outsourcing jobs to overseas and making seniors pay more for their medications?

I get such a laugh when people say that Bush stepped up and prevented further attacks after 9-11. What further attacks? Osama accomplished what he wanted the first time. think about it...if you're an Olympic runner and you just ran the best sprint of your life and won the gold medal- are you gonna say "Gee..I know I did what I came here to do...but let me run a few extra feet just to be sure." Ahhhhh....no! He did what he set out to do and no repeat was necessary.

So saying that Bush prevented further attacks in the following weeks is like someone standing at a bus stop in the middle of New York and having someone Voo-Doo doctor come up to you and say "Here...wear this necklace...it'll ward off white elephants." Gee...no white elephants showed up...must work like a charm!

Bush didn't have the ability to prevent diddily..or he would have taken the warnings BEFORE 9-11 more seriously and maybe he wouldn't have finished up that "My Pet Goat" book while his people were dying.

I'm sitting here now watching CNN ( I swear I'll wean myself off tomorrow) and all the voting coverage.

Right now they're asking people to email in and tell them what they'll do if "their guy" loses. It's hilarious! Some people are taking it well and say they'll just be glad when it's over...but some are threatening long bouts of depression. That may be taking it a little too seriously...but I do see their point. Me...I'll be tempted to take a few sleeping pills and hibernate for four years should Bush get in again.

Yeah, yeah...I know it's not my country but Bush is bad for the world period. I mean...why the hell would Bush block the ability for U.S. citizens to get cheaper drugs from Canada? Is it because he's still peeved cause we wouldn't play war with him? Should the elderly Americans on fixed incomes have to suffer because "Dubbya" still holds a grudge? Hey Georgie....GET OVER IT AND TAKE CARE OF YOUR PEOPLE!

He has no problems with letting Canada supply the U.S. with our surplus of flu vaccinations...is that because he now has to cover his butt so close to the election?

And speaking of covering his butt....here comes the latest "words of wisdom" from Osama just days before the election....basically telling the U.S. people that if the U.S leaves him alone he won't bomb America anymore. Well isn't that sweet!

Hey..I have a thought....if that moron Bush had spent less time golfing and "not thinking about Osama Bin Laden that much" (as quoted by Bush himself in Fahrenheit 9-11..which he denied saying in the last debate the big freaking liar) then America and the rest of the world wouldn't have to be tip toeing around because Osama..who has now admitted to the 9-11 bombings.....wouldn't still be running around! He'd be caught and paying for killing all those innocent people.

Please America....give this a long hard thought. Bush is a dangerous man for all of us.

OK......let's break this blog baby in.

I decided to start this blog basically as a place to talk about what's on my mind or vent about those things in life that just basically piss me off.

Today I think I'll target the upcoming US elections. I have no idea why the hell I'm so fascinated with them considering I live in Canada. I guess it's accurate to say I got hooked on the whole American government thing back during the infamous presidential election of 2000. I was home on maternity leave and I hate most daytime T.V. with a passion so I found myself glued to CNN like a crack addict looking for a fix.

---> Side Note....Anyone else think CNN flashes subliminal messages that make you scared to death to turn the channel for fear of missing "the next big news development"? I swear....during both the 2000 election and after 9-11 I needed a 12 step program to get myself to quit watching. <---

Anyway, here's my take on it. I'm not a fan of Bush. In fact I think he's one of the worst presidents the U.S. has ever had. Yeah, he can't speak worth a damn, and he doesn't always...or hardly ever, really, think through what he says without his trusty telepromter or canned speach...but that's not what scares me the most.

What freaks me out about "Dubbya" is that he seems to rule the roost with blinders on. I know a president, or any leader for that matter, has tough decision's to make and can't waste a whack of time arriving at that decision but I keep getting the feeling that Bush's decision's have about as much foresight as a teenager sneaking outta the bedroom window to get to a party. To hell with the consequences or reprocussions of your decisions....just give 'er hell and pray you don't get spanked.

I mean really....does he HAVE a plan for Iraq now??? I really don't think he does. And if he does I think he made it hastily and without concern for the soldiers that have been over there so damned long.

Let me put this out to you to chew on. When Bush was looking for support for his let's go behind the UN's back and snag Sadam "crusade" (his word..not mine) he approached many countries- Canada being one of them. His basic proposal was a blatent " you're either with us now or against us forever" ...not much room there for negotiation, Dubbya.

Canada didn't go for it, due partly to not wanting to go without UN approval (which means the mission then costs us more) and also because Canada's military ain't exactly in its best shape every....something I'm sure I'll vent about at a later date (yes...our leader sucks too).

So Dubbya got pissed and Canada was no longer on the "best friends list"..instead we were replaced by Britain (who Dubbya is now blaming for the shortage in the flu vaccine....fickle bastard ain't he?)

Now fast forward to 2004 and those poor American soldiers that have been in Iraq so long they're probably eligible for citizenship for christ's sake and now I hear that there's a sort of "backdoor draft" going on where those soldiers can't even get out.

If Bush had been more diplomatic and had some forethought into what the U.S. was going to need in terms of support IN THE LONG RUN he might have let Canada play the role in this that it is world reknown for....PEACEKEEPING!

I'm willing to bet that if Bush had given our Prime Minister the option to opt out of the war but support the U.S. troops by releiving them when the rebuilding portion came that Canada would have gone with it...it's more our style.

But no....Bush had to have it his way and now or he wasn't gonna play nice anymore (did he ever?)

Most Canadians that I've talked to love Democrats. They seem like a more level headed bunch that look a little more at the big picture. So for what it's worth...if an American is reading this and it's before the 2004 election....give that Kerry guy some serious consideration...I think it will do us all a world of good.
